What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.

Before Thanksgiving, I am going to hangout with my friends and just have a chill few days. For Thanksgiving, my whole family always goes to my grandmas house and we all have a huge meal. We go over there at around 4 and enjoy each others company and then around 6 ish we have a big dinner with all of the typical Thanksgiving food. We hang out there for a while (most of the night) and then the girls stay up and go Black Friday shopping at midnight! Then the next day my family and I put up all of our Christmas decorations. It is really fun and makes me realize how thankful I am for my family.

Go out and look up a what all goes on a resume website. What can you find? Include an example image if possible.

There are many things that go into a resume, but let's keep in mind that every resume is different. Depending on what the resume is for, the information in the resume will vary. Below, I have listed the common necessities in resumes that you will most likely find in any resume:
  • Name, address, e-mail address, and telephone number.
  • Employment objective. State the type of work or specific job you are seeking.
  • Education, including school name and address, dates of attendance, major, and highest grade completed or degree awarded. Consider including any courses or areas of focus that might be relevant to the position.
  • Experience, paid and volunteer. For each job, include the job title, name and location of employer, and dates of employment. Briefly describe your job duties.
  • Special skills, computer skills, proficiency in foreign languages, achievements, and membership in organizations.
  • References, only when requested.
  • Keep it short
  • Avoid long paragraphs; use bullets to highlight key skills and accomplishments.

Resumes are easy to make and even though most resumes are the same, some might be different depending on what the person is making the resume for.

Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design?

User experience is the overall experience of a person using a product such as a website or computer application, especially in terms of how easy or pleasing it is to use (Google). There are five main categories involved with the overall experience: Usability, aesthetics, customer service, brand consistency, and personal impact.

Twitter is an app that I would personally say creates an overall good user experience. I have never gone wrong with Twitter, and it always works well. Yes, there are many bad apps or websites that create a bad user experience, but there are also good websites and apps that create an overall quality user experience, and it is usually because they follow those main categories of user experience.

Consider the quote below. What exactly do you think it means and how does it relate to Web Design?

I think this quote means that there is more to design than just the appearance of it. The design of something is how it works and and how everything is put together, not just what it looks like. There is way more to it than what meets the eye!

Reflect on your learning this semester so far in this class. Think about the first day you walked in to this room until right now. What have you learned about Web Design? What have you learned beyond Web Design? Explain yourself.

I have learned so much from the beginning of this class. I didn't know how to do anything web design related at first, but know I feel like I am pretty skilled at it. I have learned also how to problem solve because when making websites, the answers aren't always going to be easy and you're going to have to problem solve on your own. I have also learned that making a website using HTML and coding and everything take a lot of work, so I see websites differently know and appreciate the work that goes into them more. I can't wait to keep learning!

Tell me about your weekend. Give me details and photos!

This weekend we went to State. We had the hardest pool and weren't predicted to win let alone even get to State in the first place. Even though we played well, we lost 2 out of the 3 games, not letting us advance into the next day. We ended up getting 5th, and it was a pretty bittersweet day. I got named t the All State team, which is nearly impossible to do unless you are on a top 3 team. I cried so much, some tears of sadness, some of anger, and some of happiness. Friday night when we got back, a bunch of the girls came over in Halloween costumes and we went to a Halloween party which was pretty fun. Saturday I spent the whole morning with Abby and Georgia and then the whole day/night with Abby and Erik pretty much. I got a present for my friend Blake, hung out, and got Freddy's with Erik. Then, Erik and I went to a haunted house and then went back again with our friends Abby, Haley, Cody, Brian, and Jared. Sunday I applied to American, cleaned my room and car, went to Jose's with my club volleyball friends, and then got my nails done.

Tell me about your weekend. Share pics!

This weekend was really fun. Friday after practice my friends from the volleyball team (Whitney, Abby, and Whitney) went to the Pink Out football game and had a great time. After the game Abby and I hung out with our friends Erik and John at my house. Saturday I had to work the sophomore volleyball tournament at 7:30 in the morning, but after I went home, slept, then got Chipotle with my sister since she's in town from college. I then went to my grandma's and then went out to dinner with my friend Blake at Winstead's and hung out with him for a while! Sunday my family and I wet to the Louisberg Cider Mill and then my sister, cousin, and I went shopping all day, and lastly I had volleyball practice at 8 that night.

What kind of background do you have with Photoshop? Have you used it before? What other types of design and editing software have you used before? Explain.

I have absolutely no background with Photoshop. I have tried to work it before but it never ends up well and I have no idea how to work or use it. I never really use deign or editing software, so this is all very new to me.

Below is a letter written to the editor who wrote the article 'Enforcement of dress code creates negative effect' that your blogged about last week. Most of you wrote on your blog that you agreed with the writer. What are your thoughts after reading the letter below and seeing a different perspective. Are they the same? Are the different? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I still agree with Riley's article. While I do think you make a good point, if the school wanted a higher of standard for dress code and wanted to prepare us and have us look "(semi) professional, then make us wear things like CAPS does. Otherwise, you should be allowed to wear whatever you want, respectfully. In college there aren't clothing guidelines unless it's for a specific class. So by making us wear certain things, it is really just making us seem like we are children. Also, your article relates more to the staff who don't really have a problem with the dress code because you are adults and you can't wear some of he things high schoolers can, and also, you are at a job, not a student. So while both articles make good points, I still agree with everything Riley said, and I'm glad it has received a lot of attention.

The perfect curriculum would be just living life normally and learning from it. Different classes would be different life experiences, and you could choose which ones you want to take based on how you want to live your life. I would actually enjoy going to school and classes would be way different because we most likely wouldn't have homework and it would just be like living life.

Tuesday, October 7th

The following article was in the September issue of The Tiger Print. Read the article (even if you already have) and respond to it below. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Consider all perspectives of the article while you respond.

I agree with this article 100%. I am very tall and have very long arms, so the thumb rule for me would be almost to my knees. I think girls should be allowed to wear whatever they want, rrespectively If your butt is hanging out, then you should probably get a little longer shorts. But if you have a cute pair of high-waisted shorts that cover everything, you should be allowed to wear them, regardless if they look short or not. As for dresses and shirts, I think the spaghetti strap rule is completely unfair. As long is its not strapless, I think you should be able to wear whatever kind of shirt you want. Shoulders should not be that distracting, and if they are, then that is the guys' problem, not ours. I think it was about time somebody wrote about the dress code and I think her article was perfect.

Tell me about your weekend! If you don't have anything fun to share, tell me about the city you live in. What do you love about Kansas City? Do you have a favorite place in the city? Favorite team? :) Favorite event? Explain.

I had a pretty fun and rough weekend at the same time. Friday I had practice and then went out to dinner with my friends Alexis and Erik and we got Chipotle, then went to Sweet Caroline's to get ice cream. Saturday we had the Joan Wells tournament, which we placed 3rd in. After my tournament, I hung out with my friends Alexis and Abby and we got Winstead's, picked up my sister from my brothers football game, got Sweet Caroline's (again), then went back to my house and chilled in the basement. Erik came over once we got home and then my friend Blake and his friend James showed up later and hung out for a little bit. Sunday I did my practice SAT tests, went over to my grandma's, hung out with family and friends for the Royals game, and celebrated my best friend Abby's birthday! We ended up going to Sweet Caroline's (yes, for the third time) and then just hung out. So minus a few other things that happened this weekend, it was a pretty good one to say the least.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

This weekend was so much fun. Friday after the parade the whole volleyball team went to Wamego, Kansas for a tournament. We stayed the night in an awesome hotel, got ice cream, watched moviesw, and then won the tournament the next day! Immediately after we won, the girls going to homecoming (including myself) showered at the school's showers, and drove an hour and a half back home. After getting ready, our dates came over at about 8:30 ish. Our group was me, Haley, Georgia, and then my best friend Carly who came from a different tournament since she goes to Aquinas. My friend Abby did my makeup and helped me get ready. I went with Adam Sargent, and it was so much fun. We ate pizza, took pictures, and then went to the dance which was the best part. We danced like crazy, Carly and I, and had a blast. After the dance we went to our group's after party, but we got bored so we went to a different one that was a lot of fun! Overall it was a pretty fun weekend and I loved every second of it!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Share photos!

I had a pretty packed weekend this weekend! Friday night I had practice, went to dinner with my friends Alexis and Abby, and then went on the Wilderness trail and hung out there all night and met up with our friends Patrick and Jared, then got ice cream. Saturday I went dress shopping for my homecoming dress and got it, watched the Mizzou game with my family, went to dinner with Abby, Alexis, and Haley, then went to the talent show with Abby, and then lastly had a bonfire with those girls! Sunday was my mom's birthday so my whole family of 20 people went to the Royals game and tailgated where I got very sunburt, went back to my grandma's house to have dinner and cake, did homework, and then went to practice. Busy busy weekend!

Friday, September 19th

Now that you are several weeks in to this class and have coded one (super small) website, what do you think? What are your thoughts on web design? Is it what you thought it would be? Is it better? Worse? What's your favorite part? What's your least favorite part? Explain.

I think coding is really interesting but it is starting to get pretty hard. Right when I started to understand how to do it, we got into the harder stuff and now I have basically no idea what I'm doing. I like the class in general because it's pretty cool but I wish we spent more time practicing and learning how to code, rather than just being told to go onto Code Academy and figure it out ourselves.

What is the importance of deadlines? How do high school deadlines reflect or simulate "real world" experience? Give an example of when you met or or didn't meet a deadline that was important.

It is very important to meet deadlines because in the real world, you don't get unlimited chances like you do in high school. If you don't meet your deadline, then you're done. I have had many times in high school where I haven't met deadlines with homework, and lat year it caused me to end up with a C in the class because of one take-home test that I didn't turn in on time. So meeting deadlines is very important.

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

This quote honestly applies to me in a lot of situations. I rarely study for tests, so pretty much every test I don't prepare for I am setting myself up to fail. I am pretty good at winging things but I do need to prepare more because I do fail or not do well on a lot of things because I don't prepare correctly.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

I did a lot of stuff over the weekend! Friday night I went to the football game with my friends, which was a blast. I hung out with some volleyball girls during and after the game as well. Saturday our volleyball team had a tournament at LSW (MoKan) and got 3rd place, which is the best our school has ever done! Saturday night I hungout with my friend on the team named Abby, and we watched movies and just chilled. Sunday I spent all day shopping for homecoming dresses with my friends also on the volleyball team Abby and Haley. I found a dress I like, but it was really expensive, so I am going to go shopping again this week. It was a pretty fun weekend I'd say!

Wednesday, September 10th

What does this quote mean to you? Elaborate! Feel free to give an example of tell a story.

I think this quote is very interesting. I do agree with it for the most part about how there is so much you can explore and endless things to do, But these days, it's nearly impossible to go do whatever you want without your parents nagging about it or just flat out saying no. I think we should be able to go out and do whatever we want, explore the unknown, find out new things everyday. But we say "we're bored" because we don't have the freedom to not be bored. I do listen when people say things like "how can you be bored there is so many things to do in this world!", but what is the likelihood that we will even be allowed to explore or get out of boredom? So this quote makes me a little mad and I think it is pretty unrealistic.

How do you express creativity? Explain.

One way that I express creativity is by creating canvases. I love to paint canvases for other people and seeing their reactions when I give them to people. I usually go on Pinterest and search canvas ideas for a while, and when I see one that relates to somebody I know I just tr to recreate it and add my own touches to it! I also make them for other people as a job sort of, and get paid on the occasion. Whether I'm getting paid or not, it is really fun and it is a stress reliever as well. I like o be creative sometimes and making canvases is really the only time I am!
